Refund & Cancellation Policy
Last updated 11 October 2026
Digital books can't be returned once they've been read, so our refund rule is short and checked automatically. This page explains exactly when a purchase qualifies, how to ask, and how the money comes back.
1. What you are buying
Yashraj Books is run by Devi Ahilya Prakashan. Every purchase is a time-limited licence to read a book, or every book in a package, inside our reader for the period shown at checkout. You are not buying a file. Books can't be printed or copied; copies saved for offline reading in the app are encrypted, open only inside the app and stop working when the plan ends.
Delivery is digital and immediate: the book appears in My Shelf as soon as the payment succeeds. Nothing is shipped, and there are no delivery charges.
Prices shown include all applicable taxes. The amount charged is the amount displayed on the payment screen at the moment you confirm.
2. When a refund is available
A purchase qualifies for a full refund only if BOTH of the following are true at the moment you request it:
- The request is made within 30 minutes of the successful payment; and
- You have opened fewer than 5% of the book's pages. For a package, this is judged on the book in it you have read the most.
For a package, only the 30-minute window applies. These checks are automatic: a request that fails either one is declined immediately.
There is no partial and no pro-rata refund. A qualifying request is refunded in full; a non-qualifying one is not refunded at all.
3. How to request one
Go to Account → Orders, open the order and choose "Request refund". You'll see the automatic checks before you confirm. You can also write to business@yashrajbooks.com within the same 30-minute window, but the in-app request is faster and is the one the timer is measured against.
One refund request per order. Once an order has been refunded — or a request has been declined — it can't be requested again.
4. Review and how the money comes back
Qualifying requests are reviewed by our team, usually within two working days, and are then credited to your Yashraj wallet — not to your card, UPI or bank account. Wallet balance can be used on any future purchase and does not expire.
If you would rather have the amount returned to your original payment method (for example, because you're deleting your account), email support after the wallet credit lands. Reversals to a payment method go through PhonePe and can take 5–7 working days to appear on your statement, depending on your bank.
As soon as a refund is approved, access to the refunded book or package is removed from your library, including any copy saved for offline reading.
5. Books we withdraw
If we remove a book from the catalogue, or your institution's access ends, while you hold an active plan for it, we may credit the unused part of the plan to your wallet. You'll receive a "Wallet credited" notification with the reason.
6. Cancellations
Plans are one-time purchases for a fixed period, not recurring subscriptions, so there is nothing to cancel and nothing renews automatically. If you don't want a plan to continue, simply don't renew it; you keep access until the end date shown in your rentals.
A payment that fails or is abandoned before completion isn't charged. If an amount was debited but the order shows as failed, it is reversed automatically by the payment gateway, typically within 5–7 working days. Contact support with the order reference if it hasn't appeared after that.
7. Things a refund does not cover
- A change of mind after the 30-minute window, or after opening 5% or more of the book (for a package, of any one book in it).
- Buying the wrong edition, course or exam when the correct one was listed — check the book's details page, and use the free sample pages, before buying.
- Access removed because of a breach of the Terms of Service (for example, attempts to copy or share a book).
- Wallet balance, referral credits or promotional credits — these have no cash value and aren't refundable.
8. Problems with a book
If a book doesn't open, pages are missing or unreadable, or you were charged twice, that isn't a refund question — it's ours to fix. Report it through Help & Support in your account or email us, and we'll correct the book or reverse the duplicate charge regardless of the 30-minute rule.
